By Gabie Research · Updated Oct 16, 2026 · 8 min read

Short answer

BillboardPlanet is a good pick for billboard owners who want one system for the work around a sale. Its Quantum software lists inventory, CRM, quotes, contracts, proof of performance, install work orders and accounting links. It says it has 20+ years in the industry. It posts no prices, and no listed feature finds new advertisers.

Verdict
A deep, OOH-only operations system with work orders, proof of performance, accounting links and digital tools, but priced only after a demo and not built to find new advertisers.
Best for
Owners who want one system from quote to install work order to accounting, or who want to link digital faces to programmatic demand.

  • Quantum is for media owners. Equinox is for agencies and media buyers.
  • Quantum users can link digital faces to the Blip marketplace, per a June 2025 Billboard Insider report.
  • It posts no prices. The Quantum page lists "Three Scalable Options" and does not name them.
  • In Billboard Insider's August 2026 reader poll, 10% picked Billboard Planet. Apparatix got 40%.

BillboardPlanet is a good pick for billboard owners who want one system for the work around a sale. Its Quantum software lists inventory, CRM, quotes, contracts, proof of performance, install work orders and accounting links. The tradeoffs are two. You get a price only after a demo. And no listed feature finds new advertisers.

What is BillboardPlanet?

BillboardPlanet is a software company for the outdoor ad industry. Its site says it has more than 20 years in the industry. It also says its team has over 50 developers and support staff in 5 countries. Its contact page lists an office in Minneapolis, MN.

It sells two main products.

  • Quantum is for media owners. The site calls it "the most advanced Operating System for Out-of-Home companies."
  • Equinox is for ad agencies and media buyers.

The site also links to a client login called bManage and to a site called Nexus. It gives no description of either.

The trade group OAAA lists BillboardPlanet in its Tech Locator. Its service tags include CRM, Lead-to-Revenue Management, and Media Planning Platforms and Services. The listing says it is "a technology company specifically focused on the Outdoor Advertising industry."

How popular is BillboardPlanet?

It is a known name. Billboard Insider asked readers which software they use. In the August 11, 2026 poll, 10% picked Billboard Planet. The article does not say how many readers voted.

In a 2024 poll, readers named QuickBooks, Apparatix and BillboardPlanet as their top three tools. A poll shows what readers use. It does not rate how well a tool works.

What features does Quantum include?

Quantum's page lays out a "Full Sales Cycle Management" flow. Here is what it lists.

CRMContacts, from media buyers to end clients

ProposalsA quote that matches the client's final selection

AccountingA link to your accounting system. SAP and Peachtree are named.
Proof of performanceAn app to take and store photos and send them to clients
Print and installWork orders that are made and tracked for you

The site calls Quantum "a fully integrated system" for all areas of an outdoor ad company. It also lists six "available add-on modules":

  • The Quantum GO and Warehouse Receiving apps
  • Accounting integration
  • Custom reporting
  • A link to a third-party CRM
  • Digital player integration
  • Programmatic

What about digital billboards?

Quantum has tools for digital faces. Its Broadcast Center can feed campaigns to your digital players. Its programmatic tool manages deals from rate agreements down to unit permissions. Both are listed as add-on modules.

In June 2025, Billboard Insider reported a new link to the Blip marketplace. Quantum users can connect digital faces to Blip to earn programmatic revenue. The article says setup is minimal and you do not have to replace your content system. Billboard Insider called it "a new supplemental sales channel for the Quantum Operator."

Ask which players and content systems the Broadcast Center feeds. Your LED boards may run on a sign maker's software.

What is Equinox?

Equinox is the buyer's side of BillboardPlanet. Its page says agencies and media buyers can filter over 1.4 million signs by campaign needs. They can map signs by demographics and Google Places. They can build proposals, talk with sign owners and turn an approved proposal into a contract. It also lists accounting links, a link to a third-party CRM and Power BI reports.

If you own boards, Quantum is your product. Equinox is the tool a buyer might use.

How much does BillboardPlanet cost?

BillboardPlanet does not publish prices. There is no pricing page and no self-serve signup.

Who is BillboardPlanet for?

BillboardPlanet fits owners who want one system from quote to install to accounting. Think of a company with a posting crew, a billing desk and its own accounting software. If those jobs eat your week, Quantum is built for them.

It also suits owners who:

  • Run digital faces and want programmatic demand through Blip.
  • Already use a third-party CRM and want Quantum to connect to it.
  • Want Power BI reports on sales and inventory.

Is BillboardPlanet good for small operators?

Its site does not name a size. The "Three Scalable Options" suggest more than one fit, but they are not described. If you have a few boards and one person selling, you may not use most of it. Ask which option fits your face count.

Who is BillboardPlanet not for?

  • Owners whose boards sit empty. Quantum manages the demand you have. No listed feature finds new buyers.
  • Buyers who want a price first. You need a demo and a quote.
  • Owners who want to start alone. There is no self-serve signup.
  • QuickBooks-only shops. The Quantum page does not name QuickBooks. It says Quantum works with any accounting software through an API or exports. Ask what that means for your books.

What does BillboardPlanet do well?

  • It covers a lot. Inventory, CRM, quotes, contracts, work orders, proof and accounting links sit in one product.
  • It handles install work. Print and install work orders are made and tracked for you.
  • It reports. Charts, a report engine and Power BI are on the list.
  • It connects. It names a link to your CRM and to your accounting system.
  • It reaches digital buyers. The Blip link adds a programmatic channel for digital faces.
  • It focuses on OOH. The company says it has 20+ years in the industry.

Where is BillboardPlanet thin?

  • No public price. You cannot compare cost before a sales call.
  • No self-serve start. The site offers a demo and a contact form.
  • No customer count. The site gives no number of users or faces.
  • No outbound prospecting listed. The Blip link helps with digital faces only.
  • The three options are not named. You cannot see what each includes.

Apparatix is the closest match. See Apparatix vs BillboardPlanet for a full side-by-side. SignDash is lighter, and our SignDash review shows where it stops.

How does BillboardPlanet compare to Apparatix?

Both are built only for out-of-home companies. Both list a CRM, quotes, contracts, work orders and proof of performance. Neither posts a core price. Apparatix adds a rule-based pricing engine and AI Sales Profiles. Its CRM page says the CRM is for current Apparatix users only. BillboardPlanet adds Power BI reports, a link to your own CRM and an agency product, Equinox. In the August 2026 poll, Apparatix got 40% and Billboard Planet got 10%. For a side-by-side, see Apparatix vs BillboardPlanet.

What should you ask in a BillboardPlanet demo?

Bring a real export of your faces and a recent contract. Then ask:

  1. What is the yearly price for my number of faces and users? What is extra?
  2. What are the three options, and which one fits me?
  3. Which of the six add-on modules are in my price?
  4. How do you load my faces, leases and live contracts? Who does it, and how long does it take?
  5. How does my accounting system connect? Do you support QuickBooks?
  6. Can I get all my data out if I leave?

Write the answers down. Then ask other vendors the same six questions.

Is BillboardPlanet worth it?

Yes, if your hard problem is operations. Quantum lists the work around a sale: contracts, install work orders, proof and accounting links. It adds digital and programmatic tools, and it has been in the industry for 20+ years.

It is less of a fit if your boards sit empty. Its tools help you run deals, not find them. And you cannot see a price before you talk to sales. Ask for a written quote, a data import plan and a list of what is extra.
