Lucit Review (2026): Dynamic Billboard Ads for Operators
By Gabie Research · Updated Oct 16, 2026 · 7 min read
Short answer
Lucit turns live inventory, like cars or homes, into digital billboard ads that update on their own. For operators, it sends a dynamic feed to your player software, and Lucit handles the creative. A 2020 interview said operators pay nothing, and dealers pay Lucit a yearly fee. Lucit posts no prices.
- Verdict
- A focused tool that turns dealer and realtor inventory into self-updating digital ads, reportedly free to the operator, but built for those advertisers only, with no posted prices and no help finding them.
- Best for
- Operators of digital boards who sell to auto, real estate, ag and recreational dealers and want their ads to update without design work.
- Lucit turns an advertiser's inventory feed into digital billboard ads that change when the stock changes.
- Your traffic team loads one feed per client at campaign start. Lucit handles the creative.
- A 2020 report says operators pay nothing, and dealers pay Lucit a yearly subscription.
- Billboard Insider's 2024 listing names seven compatible players, including Apparatix, Daktronics and Watchfire.
- Lucit's own site would not load when we checked, so ask for current terms.

What is Lucit?
Lucit is a company in Bismarck, North Dakota. A 2020 Billboard Insider piece called it a digital marketing and ad agency founded in 2019. Its CTO, Eric Kubischta, said the idea was simple. In his words, "Automated inventory creatives are everywhere, except for Digital Billboards."
A 2024 listing says Lucit connects big-ticket inventory to digital billboards. The sellers are realtors, auto dealers, ag dealers and recreational dealers. It works on two sides. Operators get a feed. Advertisers get an app.
What is big-ticket inventory?
Big-ticket means items that cost a lot and sell one at a time. Think of a house, a truck or a tractor. Each item is for sale until someone buys it. That is why a fixed ad goes stale fast for these sellers. A sold truck on a billboard is a wasted look.
What is dynamic creative?
Dynamic creative is an ad that changes when facts change. A normal billboard ad is a fixed picture. A dynamic ad is built from a live list, like a lot of used trucks or a set of home listings.
The 2020 interview gives examples.
- When a vehicle sells, Lucit's system is told, and the item comes down from the board's rotation.
- If a price drops, the system makes a new image on its own.
- The dealer gets a sold notice when a vehicle leaves the board.
- The dealer sees real-time play stats in the app.
A separate 2020 story described Dan Porter Motors in Dickinson, North Dakota. It called the store the first U.S. auto dealer to control its inventory on digital billboards in real time with Lucit's tool. Treat that as a 2020 claim.
How does Lucit work for an operator?
The 2024 listing says Lucit "works with billboard operators by sending a dynamic feed to their player software." Here is the path the sources describe.
- An advertiser, like a dealer, signs up with Lucit. In 2020, Lucit said dealers pay it directly.
- Your traffic team loads one Lucit feed for that client when the campaign starts.
- Lucit handles the rest of the creative for the whole campaign.
- Your player software plays the ads.
- Lucit gets pings back from the boards, so it can show proof of play.
So your team does not swap ads by hand during the campaign. The listing says higher engagement leads to renewals, but it gives no numbers. Treat that as Lucit's pitch.
How do the pieces fit together?
Think of a chain with four links. The dealer's inventory system holds the list of what is for sale. Lucit reads that list. Lucit sends a feed to your player software. The player puts the ads on the board.
A 2020 story says the system takes a real-time feed from the dealer's inventory system. Your traffic team is the group that loads ads and runs the schedule. With Lucit, its part is small. It loads one feed for each client at the start of the campaign.
Lucit does not set your rate. The sources we read say nothing about how an operator prices a Lucit client's slots. Agree on the rate and the number of slots with the dealer before the feed goes live.
Which players work with Lucit?
The 2024 listing names Apparatix, Formetco, Scala, Dot2Dot, Blip, Daktronics and Watchfire. Lucit's App Store page says it has "previously integrated" with these. The 2020 interview said Lucit worked with Apparatix and the boards Apparatix controls. It had also tested feeds with Watchfire and Daktronics.
Your player is the key. Lucit sends a feed. Your player must accept it. Ask Lucit to confirm yours by name.
Is Lucit a content system?
No. A content system, or CMS, is the software that loads, schedules and plays ads on a board. Your player software does that job. Lucit sits in front of it. It makes the ads and feeds them in.
So you still need a player. And you still need a way to book the slots so the loop doesn't overfill. Ask how a Lucit client's slots show up in the schedule you already keep.
Why does proof of play matter here?
Proof of play is a log that shows an ad ran. See proof of play. Lucit says it gives up-to-the-second proof of play on each creative. The 2024 listing says that helps a client see the campaign is live. Lucit's argument is that a client who sees the campaign live will renew. A dealer who wants to watch stock move may agree.
What does the advertiser's app do?
Per the listing, the app lets an advertiser do these things.
| Feature | What Lucit says |
|---|---|
| Inventory | Choose which items to promote |
| Creative | Upload full-size creatives |
| Stats | See real-time stats |
| Frequency | Control how often an ad runs |
| Scheduling | Schedule creatives |
| Quick posts | Post an ad from a photo and a caption, like a social post |
The App Store listing calls it a free app for managing billboards. It says the app "puts the control in the hands of the advertiser." Clients can see their own stats, so sales staff don't send reports by hand.
How much does Lucit cost?
Lucit doesn't post prices.
| Item | As published (Oct. 12, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Cost to the operator | None, per a July 2020 interview |
| Cost to the advertiser | Annual subscription for the full service, billed to the dealership. No amount posted |
| The app | Free to download |
| 2024 listing | No prices. Points to lucit.cc for a demo |
The "no cost to the operator" line is from 2020. It is the newest statement we found. Ask Lucit if it still holds, and whether any fee applies to a feed or a player link.
Who is Lucit for?
- Operators who sell to dealers. Auto, ag, recreational and real estate sellers fit best.
- Operators who want less design work. Lucit handles the creative after the feed is loaded.
- Operators who must show proof. Lucit says it gives proof of play on each creative.
Who is Lucit not for?
- Operators whose advertisers sell services. A dentist or a plumber has no live stock to feed.
- Static-only owners. The sources describe digital billboards.
- Owners who need a scheduler. Lucit sends a feed. It doesn't replace your player software.
- Owners who need help finding advertisers. The sources we read list no prospecting.
What are the pros and cons of Lucit?
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Ads update on their own as stock changes | Fits only advertisers with live inventory |
| One feed per client for your traffic team | Needs a supported player |
| Reportedly no cost to the operator | Pricing is not posted; the claim is from 2020 |
| Real-time stats and proof of play | Lucit's site was not reachable for us |
| Advertiser app with frequency and scheduling | Doesn't find advertisers |
What are the best Lucit alternatives?
| Tool | Best for | Tradeoff | Price as published |
|---|---|---|---|
| Watchfire Ignite OA | Watchfire owners who want weather, news or score-driven ads | Not tied to dealer inventory; Watchfire boards only | Comes standard with Watchfire boards |
| Blip | Digital owners who want small buyers for unsold time | Owner revenue split not published | No upfront fee |
| Broadsign | Large networks that need ad serving and programmatic | Heavy for a few boards | On request |
| Gabie | Owners who want local buyers for each open face | Doesn't build dynamic ads or play ads | Free to 100 faces; then $0.25 a face a month |
Watchfire's Ignite OA page says content can change with weather, news, sports scores or events, using RSS or XML feeds. That is the same idea with a different source. See our Watchfire Ignite review, Blip review and Broadsign review.
What should you ask in a Lucit demo?
- Does my player accept a Lucit feed today?
- Is it still free to the operator? Is any fee due on my side?
- Does the dealer pay me for board time, and does Lucit take any part of it?
- How fast does a sold item leave the loop?
- How many slots does each client take in my loop?
- How is proof of play shared with the advertiser?
- What does the board show if a feed goes empty?
- Who approves the creative, and can I refuse an ad?
Is Lucit worth it?
Yes, for the right operator. If dealers or agents already buy your boards, a demo is easy to justify. The work for your team is small. The ads stay fresh. And the cost to you was reported as zero.
Our caution is about age and scope. The pricing line is from 2020, and the feature list is from 2024. Lucit also fits only one kind of advertiser. Use it as one tool in the mix. A restaurant or a roofer still needs a different pitch.
