# Blip Billboards Review (2026): For Sign Owners, Pros and Cons

Short answer: Blip is a self-serve marketplace that sells digital billboard time by the 8-second play. If you list a board, Blip installs its player and says there are no upfront fees. You keep control of pricing and availability. Blip doesn't publish its owner revenue share or payout terms, so ask for both in writing before you sign.

Verdict: A low-effort way to sell unsold digital time to small buyers, with no upfront fee, but digital only, with owner revenue terms not published and the advertiser booked through Blip. Best for: Owners of digital billboards with unsold loop time who want small-business buyers without hiring sales staff.

Key takeaways:
- Blip sells digital billboard time pay-per-play to small buyers, with no minimums or contracts.
- Owners pay no upfront fees. Blip installs its player on the board.
- Blip says owners keep control of pricing and availability.
- Blip's pages don't state the owner revenue share. A 2023 Blip post says it pays owners by check each month.
- Its pages give two network sizes: 3,500+ billboards and 2,700+ locations.

Blip is a self-serve marketplace for digital billboards. Small buyers pick a board, set a budget and pay by the
8-second play. If you list a board, Blip installs its player and says there are no upfront fees. The catch is simple.
Blip's pages don't say how revenue is split with the owner.

Blip also owns SignDash, a sales and inventory tool for independent operators. It bought SignDash in December 2025, per a [company announcement](https://billboardinsider.com/blip-acquires-signdash-to-support-independent-operators/) in Billboard Insider.

> Note: Gabie makes billboard software too, and appears in the alternatives below. This review looks at Blip from a sign
owner's side. Facts come from Blip's own site, Watchfire, DOmedia and Billboard Insider, checked October 12, 2026.
We don't give star ratings.

## What is Blip?

Blip sells time on digital billboards online. A local business picks locations on a map. It sets a budget and a
schedule, uploads an ad, and pays only when the ad plays. One play is called a blip. Per
[Blip's self-serve page](https://www.blipbillboards.com/self-serve/), the ad goes live after Blip reviews and approves
the design.

Blip says there are no contracts and no minimums. Its [homepage](https://www.blipbillboards.com/) says daily budgets
can start as low as $20 in some locations. Blip also sells programmatic buying and works with agencies.

Blip's [about page](https://www.blipbillboards.com/about/) says the company began in 2015. Its first marketplace ad ran
on YESCO's digital billboards in Utah, Idaho, Nevada and Oregon.

### How big is the Blip network?

Blip's pages give different counts.

| Page | What it says |
|---|---|
| For sign operators | 3,500+ digital billboards across 46 states, and 600k+ businesses ready to book short campaigns |
| Programmatic page | 3,500+ screens |
| Homepage | 2,700+ high-traffic locations across 46 states |
| About page | 2,000+ billboard locations |

The counts may measure different things. Ask Blip how many boards sell in your market. That number matters more than
the national total.

## What does it mean to list your board on Blip?

Blip's [page for sign operators](https://www.blipbillboards.com/for-sign-operators/) describes the path.

1. You fill in a form with your sign's size, location and a photo.
2. Blip's operations team works with you to install the Blip Player on your board.
3. Blip handles scheduling, billing and creative approval. You stay in control of pricing and availability.
4. Advertisers book your slots. You start earning once they do.

You also get tools. A central dashboard schedules all your signs. An analytics view shows revenue by sign, average price
per placement and month-over-month trends. A mobile app lets you update schedules, upload creative and watch
performance.

Blip's [help center](https://help.blipbillboards.com/how-to-schedule-ads) shows how an owner schedules ads on the
operator site. You upload ads, with a 2 MB limit for each. You group them and drop the group into a sign's slot. A new
ad can take 5 to 10 minutes to start playing.

The page does not list hardware specs, power needs or board minimums. Blip says only that busy urban boards
usually earn more than suburban or rural ones. Ask what your board needs before you commit.

### How do you get paid?

Blip's current pages say little here. A [March 2023 Blip post](https://www.blipbillboards.com/blog/overview-for-sign-owners/)
says Blip handles billing and collections, and sends payment to sign owners. It says, "At the end of each month, you
simply cash a check." That is the newest word on timing we found. It is over three years old.

Blip's [payments guide](https://help.blipbillboards.com/guide-to-blip-payments) adds that every payment comes with an
invoice. The invoice number shows the revenue source and the time the content played. Codes cover Blip's own
marketplace and outside programmatic partners, such as Place Exchange, Vistar, Adomni and Hivestack. You can pull a
breakdown from the operator portal. None of these pages gives the owner's share.

### How does the marketplace sell your board?

There are two ways in. The first is self-serve. A buyer chooses a site, sets a budget and a time of day, and uploads
creative. Blip shows the estimated cost per display before the buyer commits.

The second is programmatic. Blip's [programmatic page](https://www.blipbillboards.com/programmatic-billboard-advertising/)
says open slots are auctioned all the time in real-time bidding. A bid based on budget and demand wins a slot, and the
ad plays for 8 seconds. See [programmatic DOOH](https://gabie.ai/glossary/programmatic-dooh).

### Who owns the advertiser?

Blip handles billing and creative approval for marketplace buyers. So Blip bills the buyer, not you. You can run your
own direct clients through Blip's CMS too, and the sign operators page says so.

### Who buys on Blip?

Blip says it targets local businesses, regional brands and startups that programmatic platforms often miss. A buyer
can start small. There is no required minimum and no contract. That suits a shop with a modest budget. It does not
suit a buyer who wants a four-week anchor deal on one face.

### Who approves the creative?

Blip says it reviews and approves all designs with its sign partners. The March 2023 post says Blip screens content
first. Then the sign owner approves or rejects it. In that post's words, "You're still in control of what shows up (or
not) on your assets."

That matters if your board sits near a school, a church or a rival. Ask Blip if this still holds. Also ask whether you
can block whole categories, and how fast you must answer.

### How is Blip different from a direct sale?

| Item | Direct sale | Blip sale |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer | Your own advertiser | A marketplace buyer |
| Term | Often several weeks | No contract; pay per play |
| Billing | You bill | Blip handles billing |
| Creative review | You | Blip, with sign partners |
| Price | Your rate card | You stay in control of pricing, per Blip |

A digital loop has a set number of slots. Each slot Blip sells is a slot you can't sell direct. So decide which slots
Blip may use. Blip says you control availability, so ask how to set that.

## How much does Blip cost?

For owners, Blip posts one number: no upfront fees. The rest is blank.

| Item for owners | As published (Oct. 12, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Upfront fee | None |
| Revenue share | Not published |
| Payout timing and method | Monthly check, per a March 2023 Blip post. Not on the current pages |
| Contract term and exclusivity | Not published |

Blip does say what owners can earn. Its page says owners can make "$3,000 to $20,000 or more per month." That depends
on location, traffic, demand and fill rate. The page shows no method. It also says YESCO Outdoor Media saw a 16% lift
in revenue after joining. Treat both as Blip's claims.

### What do advertisers pay?

| Item for advertisers | As published (Oct. 12, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Price per display | From $0.01 (pricing page); from $0.02 (programmatic page) |
| Minimum spend | None |
| Contracts | None |
| Setup, platform and agency fees | None, per the pricing page |
| Data fee | A flat 5% of campaign spend, per Blip's help center. The terms call it a technology fee |

Blip's pages disagree in two places. The pricing and programmatic pages give different starting prices. And the
pricing page says no platform fees, while Blip's [help center](https://help.blipbillboards.com/5-marketplace-data-fee)
describes a flat 5% data fee on campaign spend. The [terms](https://www.blipbillboards.com/terms-and-conditions/) say 5%
of a purchase goes to a technology fee. All three are about the buyer. None says how the owner's share is set.

## How does Blip fit with your other tools?

Blip works beside many systems.

- **BillboardPlanet Quantum.** A [June 2025 integration](https://billboardinsider.com/blip-and-billboardplanet-open-maraketplace-for-quantum-users/)
lets Quantum users offer digital inventory to Blip's buyers. Blip's VP of Supply, Chad Smith, said it is "the
easiest way to get started with Blip" for Quantum users.
- **Watchfire.** Watchfire's [Ignite OA page](https://www.watchfire.com/ignite-oa-inventory-management) names Blip as a
supported source of demand. See our [Watchfire Ignite review](https://gabie.ai/learn/watchfire-ignite-review).
- **Lucit.** A 2024 [Billboard Insider listing](https://billboardinsider.com/advert/inventory-direct-to-digital-billboards/)
names Blip among the player software that Lucit works with.
- **Other programmatic channels.** Blip says many owners run it alongside them.

If your player or back office already links to Blip, setup may be lighter. The Quantum article says setup is minimal
and owners don't need to replace their CMS.

## Who should list on Blip?

- **Owners with unsold digital time.** A slot that would play a house ad can earn instead.
- **Owners with no sales staff.** Buyers come to Blip. You don't chase them.
- **Owners on Quantum or Watchfire.** Both link to Blip.

## Who should not list on Blip?

- **Static-only owners.** The marketplace is for digital boards.
- **Owners who want to own the advertiser.** Marketplace buyers book and pay through Blip.
- **Owners who need the revenue split first.** Blip doesn't publish it. Get it in writing.
- **Owners whose digital boards are already sold out.** There is no unsold time to fill.

## How could you test Blip?

Start small. List one digital board, not your whole network. Pick the slots you are least likely to sell direct. Run it
for a few flights. Then compare what Blip paid you with what a house ad earned. Check how much time the work took.

Use the same test for the numbers Blip prints. Its $3,000 to $20,000 range is wide. Your board, your traffic and your
fill rate decide where you land.

## What are the pros and cons of Blip?

| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| No upfront fees | Revenue share and payouts aren't published |
| Buyers come to you, with no minimums | Digital only |
| You control pricing and availability, per Blip | Marketplace buyers book through Blip |
| Links with Quantum and Watchfire | Network size differs from page to page |
| Scheduling and analytics tools for owners | Hardware needs aren't listed |

## What are the best Blip alternatives?

| Tool | Best for | Tradeoff | Price as published |
|---|---|---|---|
| AdQuick | Owners who want national brands and agencies | Priced on request; serves buyers too | On request |
| DOmedia | Owners who want agency RFPs for any format | The percentage isn't defined | 0% or 0.5% of contracted media on two tiers; Full on request |
| Broadsign | Large digital networks that want programmatic at scale | Ad tech, heavy for a few boards | On request |
| Lucit | Owners whose advertisers are dealers and agents | Not a marketplace | See our Lucit review |
| Gabie | Owners who want local direct buyers for each face | No marketplace; doesn't play ads | Free to 100 faces; then $0.25 a face a month |

DOmedia's [seller page](https://www.domedia.com/sellers) lists its tier percentages. See our reviews of
[AdQuick](https://gabie.ai/learn/adquick-review), [DOmedia](https://gabie.ai/learn/domedia-review) and [Broadsign](https://gabie.ai/learn/broadsign-review).

## What should you ask Blip before you list?

1. What share of each sale do I keep?
2. When and how am I paid? Is it still a monthly check?
3. How long is the agreement, and can I leave?
4. Can I block ad categories I don't want on my board?
5. What hardware does the Blip Player need?
6. How do I keep my own direct sales and my Blip sales from clashing?
7. How many boards are live near mine?

## Is Blip worth it?

Yes, for the right board. Unsold digital time earns nothing. Blip turns some of it into cash with no upfront cost
and no sales staff. For a digital owner, that is a low-risk test.

Still, get the split in writing first. A fair deal depends on a number Blip doesn't print. Also plan for who owns the
buyer. If a dentist books through Blip, Blip holds that relationship, not you. You could use Blip for leftover time
and keep your best slots for direct deals.

> How Gabie handles this: You can list a digital board on Blip and run Gabie at the same time. Gabie keeps each digital face's loop, so a slot
is never sold twice. Scout works open faces with local businesses, and those buyers stay yours, in your CRM. Gabie has
no Blip connector. Pick one system to own the loop. See [Inventory](https://gabie.ai/platform/inventory).
